Module Aims

The module will provide a basis for study for students to:

1. develop a clear understanding of the law and practice relating to child protection within the Family court, Youth Court and youth justice
2. critically analyse, evaluate and apply the law relating to child protection and the youth court

Content Summary

The module focuses on the law relating to child protection and youth justice including the youth court. The specific areas which will be included are:
• Children’s Rights (domestic and international)
• Child protection within the Family Court (care, supervision, secure accommodation, and adoption)
• Children in conflict with the law (youth court and juvenile justice)
