Module Aims

The module will provide students with an opportunity to experience a professional environment and to reflect on their personal development.

The module will provide a basis for study for students to;
1. Demonstrate engagement and competence in a professional work environment
2. Appraise their performance and produce an action plan so as to be prepared for graduate employment opportunities.

Content Summary

The module will cover the following indicative content:
• In line with the USW Academic Blueprint, the module must include at least 70 hours of Relevant Work Experience or equivalent (‘RWE’).

• Principles of self-directed study, independence, self-reliance, workplace etiquette and expecations, and time-management.

• Effective CV and letter writing and action planning

• Processes of reflection enabling assessment of personal and professional development.

• Introduction to professional conduct and ethical issues that will arise in their chosen field.

• Introduction to a wide range of career opportunities through guest lectures and ‘focus on’ weeks
