Module Aims

The module will provide students with an introduction to the law relating to consumers and consumer transactions.

The module will provide a basis for study for students to;

1. Develop knowledge and understanding of the law relating to consumer relationships including the legislative control of consumer contracts
2. Critically analyse, evaluate and applicaty the law to complex problem questions.

Content Summary

The module provides a wide-ranging examination of the rules in relation to consumer law and covers the following indicative content:

• Legislative provisions and judicial decisions and their impact on consumers and the rights bestowed on individuals when contracting with a business.
· The Consumer and Civil Law
· Sale of Goods
· Implied terms in goods, services and digital contracts
· Unfair terms
· Consider real-world issues to include credit and store cards, faulty goods, counterfeit goods, poor service, contracts, builders and rogue traders.
· The Consumer and Criminal Law.
· Fair Trading
· Consumer Credit
· Remedies
