Module Aims

This module aims to provide students with a substantial workplace experience, in an environment where they can explore the links between their academic studies and a work based problem or situation.

Through an intensive 10-week placement, students will develop and promote their own investigation into a workplace situation, providing recommendations for the employer.

Content Summary

Marketing managers need the ability to manage a marketing issue through multiple stages. This module allows you to build your skills in a chosen area by managing a marketing issue such as creating a marketing communications plan, performing market research, or running an event.

The module will begin with an induction programme which addresses many of the key aspects of the work and assessment requirements. You’ll take either a 10-week placement within an organisation, or a 10-week engagement with an organisation through the School’s Business Clinic. You’ll spend approximately 200 hours on placement or in the Business Clinic over a 10-week period.

Upon completion, this portfolio can be submitted to the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM). The CIM perform an external grading for a fee, and if you pass, you’ll gain the CIM’s Level 4 ‘Marketing in Action’ Award.
