Module Aims

A basic knowledge and understanding of Health, Safety and Welfare required within the engineering profession.

To understand the key principles of Electrical Safety.

To appreciate the requirements complying with safety and environmental standards for products sold in the market.

To foster continuous professional and academic development.

Content Summary

Health and Safety: Insight in to the HSE and fundamental legal requirements including Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974, and relevant 'At Work' primary and secondary legislations such as Electricity at Work Regulations 1989. Safety Requirements: Basic E.M.C. L.V.D, Routes to compliance, Documentation, CE Marking.

How to perform Environmental Management Systems for a more sustainable business.

This module will also facilitate the development of Personal Development Planning through the delivery of the key professional and communication skills identified below:

Communication Skills for Engineers, including presentation skills – design and delivery of oral presentation, using a variety of visual aids.

Online Presence and Digital Footprint

Basic research methods and the collection and presentation of numerical data.

Teamwork and Team Dynamics

Furthering relevant technical knowledge
