Module Aims
To develop a broad understanding of property valuation including the traditional property valuation methods of comparative, investment, residual, profits and cost-based, in addition to modern methods of valuation.
To enable students to develop valuation skills to apply these methods to a variety of property types reflecting on industry practice.
Content Summary
This modules content is designed to develop the students’ knowledge of property valuation and provide them with the ability to apply this in several differing scenarios within the sector.
In this module the student will:
• Gain an understanding of the various purposes for valuation, the professional standards and regulation in which they are conducted.
• Develop an understanding of the Five Methods of Valuation and their application in a variety of scenarios.
• Develop and understanding and application of Measurement Techniques as applicable to property valuation.
• Develop an understanding and application of property yields.
• Analyse property markets and property data.
• Develop Valuation Report writing skills.
Lectures will involve discussions around various market conditions to further the knowledge gained in relation to the application of valuation methods and where possible utilise case studies to demonstrate real life application of the content.
