Module Aims

To develop the students critical thinking skills when attending a range of diverse and complex incidents, including the importance of communication skills. 

To develop the students understanding of the importance of valuing diversity and inclusion, with emphasis on professional standards within policing. 

To develop students understanding of effective strategies used within critical and major incidents, including roads policing and investigations with an international element. 

Content Summary

In this module using a blended learning approach students will gain an understanding of the key elements associated with the impact of diversity within the criminal justice system. 

Through discussions and case summaries students will review the impact of criminal activity facilitated by the road network and consider how this could be disrupted. They will review the strategies and options available, exploring how to effectively police the strategic roads network. 

Students will analyse crowd behaviours & psychology with public and the impact of communication skills and the media, in dealing with a wide range of complex joint emergency service incidents. Evaluating the operational risk assessment process, including planning for critical and major incidents. 

Blended scaffolded learning builds the students understanding of personal development and reflective practice within the workplace, including exploring the processes with police complaints.
