Module Aims

The module aims to introduce the building blocks of fundamental AV systems. On completion the student should appreciate the challenges and be ready to take on the more advance modules in the award.

Content Summary

Through a series of lectures and practical workshops, this module will broadly cover subject matter in the following areas:

Vision:

Introduction to video systems including projectors and monitors with their controls. Considering how images arrive on those screens via:

Signals

Cables and connectors

Compatibility of standards and protocols.

Vision Switchers and mixers

Cameras including PTZ.

Sound; building systems that fulfil a purpose :

Signal flow

Cables connectors and protocols.

Ease of use

House of Worship systems

Combining audio and video using well known techniques

Overall System block diagrams leading to more complex system diagrams and agreed procedures.

Groupwork will be an essential part of this module.
