Module Aims

The module aims to develop cross-discipline knowledge surrounding the now common place hybrid or live-streamed event environment.

This module also aims to identify key principles and considerations in live stream system design and application to ensure robust, reliable delivery of an as-live recorded, streamed or live broadcasted event.

Content Summary

Delivered through a mix of formal lectures, workshops and practical sessions, this module will explore the requirements of audio visual systems designed specifically for the live production environment through the following topics:-

Defining the “live” production environment

Video signal transport (SDI, Fibre, TCP/IP)

Live streaming system design

Redundant internet connectivity

Basic control system automation

Niche software solutions (VMix, MiMo, OBS)

Supporting the hybrid event

Selection of appropriate equipment for the broadcast environment

Monitoring of stream quality / health

The role of the “Guarantee”

Technically supporting the remote contributors
