This module aims to give an underpinning in the design, engineering and operation of power systems to those who operate as sound, lighting and video professionals.

Through a series of lectures and practical workshops, this module will broadly cover subject matter in the following areas:
Requirements of BS7671
Fixed installation wiring regulations
Assessment of general characteristics
Protection for safety
Selection and erection of equipment
Inspection and testing
Requirements of BS7909
Specific recommendations over and above 7671
Management of systems to standard
Definition and implication of system scale
Paperwork relating to completion of required inspection and test to standard
Practical operations and skills
Practical wiring skills
Orientation of distribution boards
Providing required earthing arrangements and primary bonding.
