Module Aims

To integrate and apply the knowledge and understanding gained throughout the course in an integrative manner reflecting industry practice for project execution.

Content Summary

Through a short series of lectures and practical workshops, the student will be equipped to produce a unique piece of work demonstrating their particular specialist subject.

The project will consist of planning and implementation phases. Solutions to problems are expected to be appropriate, well argued, and supported by full documentation. Projects can be practically based and will normally be expected to integrate several aspects of the overall award.

Project identification:

The project will be identified by the student. A project identification proforma should be completed by the student and signed off by staff who will confirm that resources are available to undertake the project.

The Execution Phase:

It is suggested a project logbook be maintained which will include details of the day-to-day operation of the project. The final report should be of the order of 3,000 words and should conform to the guidelines detailed in the project handbook.

Presentation

The students will give a presentation of 10 minutes duration to a panel of at least 2 members of academic staff from the subject area followed by questions relating to the presentation.

This module contains a six-week immersive learning element.
