Module Aims

This module aims to expand knowledge surrounding the ever-increasing integration visual media content into the live performance environment, through the use of media servers, live generated content, LED screens and projection.

Content Summary

Through a series of lectures and practical workshops, students will:

Be introduced to large LED Screen display technology, deployment considerations and integration methods with temporary structures

Discuss intellectual property and copywrite law, within the context of visual media and graphics

Discover the in-roads augmented reality is making into the live production environment

Compare and contrast the creative choices that should be made when considering iMag (Image Magnification) screens at events, over traditional TV based creative concepts.

Develop knowledge on slice-based media control alongside projection mapping techniques.

Develop further knowledge of specialised software packages for live media server applications

Appraise the role of the “playback” technician, and their responsibility within a touring environment.
