Module Aims

Develop fundamental technological skills to produce a creative output utilising Software instruments, editing techniques and audio recording.

To acquire theoretical knowledge and skills to produce an original production (In The Box) .

Discuss and introduce a variety of DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) based skills and use a variety of audio processing units.

Content Summary

Throughout the module learners will gain skills and knowledge In The Box. Modern day engineers, producers and composers are required to have sufficient skills to create and produce music effectively and sufficiently. The learners will gain DAW based skills including:-

MIDI, Instrument, Audio, VCA, Bus channels

Effective Shortcuts with the DAW (Workflow)

Automation

Quantisation

Time and Pitch

Edit and Mix window functions

Computer Processing

Samplers

Synthesis

Signal Processing and Time Based Effects.

As a result learners will be required to produce a portfolio of DAW based compositions, implementing the skills developed in the lessons.
