Module Aims
The aim of the module is to provide the student with an understanding of Commercial Law and the International Sale of Goods.
The module will provide a basis for study for students to:
Develop knowledge and understanding of the law relating to the formation, regulation and discharge of commercial contracts in England and Wales.
Develop knowledge and key understanding of the main principles of law relating to the international sale of goods.
Develop competence in the application of commercial law to complex legal problems in the field of the international sale of goods.
Achieve a critical ability in analysis, evaluation and synthesis of commercial law.
Expose and explore current problems and dilemmas in cases involving the international sale of goods.

The module will cover the following indicative content:
Key Principles of Commercial Law (e.g. the important of legal certainty)
The Formation of Commercial Contracts
Title, Possession & Risk in Goods
Enforcement of Commercial Contracts
Insurance in Commercial Contracts
The Law of Agency
The International Sale of Goods
Standard Form Contracts (CIF, FOB etc)
The Conventions governing the transport of goods by Sea (Hague, Hague-Visby and Rotterdam).
Choice of Jurisdiction Clauses in Commercial Contracts
