The module will provide a basis for study for students to:

Enhance their intellectual curiosity and academic rigour and to develop proficiency in the analysis, evaluation and synthesis of contemporary legal issues.

Develop students’ knowledge and understanding of, and ability to utilise, appropriate legal (and other) research methodologies.

Build on the research, analytical, evaluative and critical skills acquired by the student in the earlier stages of their study.

Content Summary

There is no ‘taught’ content.? Instead, students will be?required to complete an assessment based on a research question regarding a complex area of legal or law-related knowledge of the student’s choice

Students must complete the Advanced Legal Skills and Methods module prior to commencement of this module so that the students understand the principles, aims, objectives of legal research, and how to devise their specific aims, objectives and methods of research in relation to their chosen topic.

The research question will be subject to approval by an independent panel within the Law School and the student may be required to reconsider the research question if it deemed not to be a complex area of legal or law-related knowledge.
