Module Aims

The module aims to develop and formalise students understanding of the relationships between language, culture and intercultural communication. It offers opportunities to discuss language used in social interactions and gives an overview of dimensions of intercultural communication, theories, and research, which focus on applications in professional contexts.

Content Summary

On successful module completion students will be able to: understand the relationship between language, culture, and intercultural communication, issues in the conceptualization of intercultural communication together with various approaches, theories, and research in intercultural communication and how to apply these in the professional contexts. In addition, students will be able to analyze and evaluate intercultural competence in professional contexts and create a research project on intercultural communicative competence in professional context.
