Module Aims

The module aims to support students to explore approaches to teaching essential language skills in a real-world context. It will equip them with tools to learn from and reflect on lessons delivered by other educators, and will encourage them to work from critical reflection on lessons observed to their own exercises in lesson planning.

Content Summary

On successful module completion, students will have been introduced to contemporary teaching methods and approaches (genre, task and content based) associated with the four language skills reading, writing, listening and speaking), and to the study of grammar from a discourse perspective. They will be guided to draw on this material as they work from observing lessons to creating their own lesson plans.
