Module Aims

The module will guide students through the different steps required to produce and present a viable research proposal. It will help them to identify projects that build on their specialist modules. They will be supported to consider research topics and approaches which will enhance their employability in their chosen fields.

Content Summary

On successful module completion students will have studied: digital tools for research posters and presentations, an introduction to research paradigms in TESOL (qualitative/quantitative), identification of research issues, topic and purpose, formulation of research questions, skills to review literature, ethical considerations, development of data collection strategies (e.g., professional networking, interviews, questionnaires), qualitative data analysis, quantitative data analysis, planning and structuring a research dissertation, methods for action research projects.
