Module Aims
To provide an opportunity for students to understand the theoretical and practical concepts related to social care practice with young people. The module is underpinned by the National Occupational Standards (NOS) for Health and Social Care (CCfW, 2013b) and the Social Pedagogy Professional Association’s Social Pedagogy Standards (SPPA, 2022).
Content Summary
In this module students are expected to apply social pedagogy approaches that can be used to work in partnership with young people in a social care setting. This includes taught sessions that relate to social pedagogy approaches, reflective practice, social care professional values and ethics.
Within this module, students will start to learn the concept and relevance of ‘reflection and reflective recordings’ that can inform their learning and practice.
This module is planned and developed in accordance with USW’s placement protocols.
