Module Aims
The aim of this module is to develop students’ knowledge of the research process; and gain an awareness of how this could be implemented in social care practice.
Content Summary
This module will build upon students’ knowledge of young people and the social care sector and encouraging them to apply the social pedagogy learning gained to a research context using secondary sources. It will build upon the skills, knowledge and learning gained during the Level 4 module, ‘Academic Skills and Project Research for working with Young People’ and continue to develop students’ knowledge of ‘research’ and the ‘research process’. This includes an overview of the following:
• Research Design;
• Literature Review;
• Research Ethics;
• Research Methodology;
• Research Methods;
• Data Collection and Analysis;
• Research Findings and Conclusions;
This module is designed as a preparatory module to equip students for further study and progression to Level 6 where they can undertake a significant research study.
