Module Aims

To facilitate the development of emotional intelligence (EQ), emotional regulation and psychological resilience.

To facilitate the development of professional competencies and an understanding of their professional role in the community.

Content Summary

Emotional Intelligence:

Self-awareness, awareness of others and awareness of self in relationships with others via Personal Development Group sessions.

The inter-relating of morals, values, beliefs and behaviour.

Psychological Resilience:

Emotional Regulation Systems (threat mind, drive mind, wise mind).

Mindfulness practice

Psychological vulnerability and self-compassion

Professional Practice:

Reflective practice and writing.

Professional engagement via ‘orientation placement’ (non counselling activity) - 40 hours.

BACP Membership.

Commitment to experiential learning.

*In order to meet the Professional Practice criteria for the course it is a requirement that you attend and actively participate in at least 80% of all timetabled lectures, meetings and other learning activities arranged as part of this module.
