Module Aims

This module introduces students to the basic content creation skills necessary for a career in marketing.

Content Summary

Whether they work in-house or agency, early career marketers need to have a range of content creation and management skills. Content marketing is used for many reasons, but to be successful it needs to be tailored to the right audience, at the right time, with the right message, in the right format, on the right channel. This module will equip you with the basic content creation skills needed to get that balance right.

Each week you’ll build new knowledge, abilities and skills to respond to a brief. You’ll learn tools and techniques to respond with written, photo, and video content. You’ll be assessed on your learning throughout the module via a visual journal, allowing you to select the work you put forward and explain the choices that shaped it. To enable you to successfully do this, you’ll learn about the following theory and practice of content creation;

Responding to a brief: How to write and interpret a brief. How to research an audience. How to research competitors. How to plan for content creation.

Creating content: How to make written, photo, and video content.

Managing content: How to critique content. How to measure the success of content.
