Module Aims

This module aims to provide students with a workplace experience, and guidance in exploring the links between their academic studies so far and a work-based problem or situation.

The module will explore an online virtual internship, which will be completed over the 10 week module. Students will explore the types of problems and issues they have encountered throughout the virtual internship, and discussing how it relates to the content they have studied so far in their other modules.

Students will also be encouraged to apply these learnings to other real-life case studies and businesses, to deepen their understanding of the realities of challenges and projects found in a typical UK workplace.

Content Summary

The module will begin with an induction programme which addresses many of the key aspects of the module and the assessment requirements.

Over the course of the module, students will explore the online virtual internship, and identify themes from the internship that relate to the modules they have studied so far on the other modules in their degree. The students will participate in weekly discussion-based seminars, exploring the key issues and problems they have encountered in the virtual internship. This will lead directly into the first assessment, a presentation on the issues found in the virtual internship and how it relates to their studies so far.

Students will also explore other case studies, linking the themes found in the virtual internship with other real-life businesses in the UK. This will then be explored further in the second assessment.
