Module Aims

To develop evidence-based guidance and support to mentees that develops professional skills, knowledge and values required of an effective and reflective practitioner within higher education, guided by the Advance HE Professional Standards Framework.

To develop co-constructive relationship through designed learning opportunities that enable transformative practices for mentee and mentor.

To develop a problem-based environment that encourages transformational education practices and experiences for students.

Content Summary

The module has been developed to support and develop a mentor on the Postgraduate Certificate Higher Education (PgCHE) programme within the realm of educative mentoring.

Indicative content will include the role of educative mentoring; the journey of collaboration, co-construction and transformation for the mentor, mentee and student; educative and reflective practices and engendering communities of learning and practice.

10 Assessment/Portfolio building workshop

The module has also been developed to provide evidence towards the Senior Fellowship award within Advance HE. Senior Fellowship is awarded to professionals who demonstrate they meet the criteria of Descriptor 3 (D3) of the Professional Standards Framework (PSF) for teaching and supporting learning in higher education.

D3 is suitable for individuals whose comprehensive understanding and effective practice provides a basis from which they lead or influence those who teach and/or support high-quality learning.
