Module Aims
To enable students to develop an understanding of cryptography and cryptanalysis.
Content Summary
This module will explore various methods for encrypting and decrypting data. The module will also apply methods and models to analyse data and give students a practical understanding of the most common applications of cryptological processes and other cybersecurity issues. Topic areas will include but are not limited to:
• Preliminaries of cryptography.
• Cryptology and methods to protect information.
• Random numbers.
• Cryptanalysis and ways to circumvent these methods.
• Symmetric encryption.
• Stream and block ciphers.
• Key distribution and key management.
