Module Aims

Provide an opportunity for students to challenge and extend their design and construction skills by engaging in a series of technical workshops to gain advanced pattern cutting skills.

Provide students with an opportunity to extend their knowledge of material and materiality as they apply to garment construction.

Students enhance their technical vocabulary through an understanding of fit and grading to meet the needs of underrepresented markets.

Content Summary

With the increasing rise of technical development in the production of designed objects it is increasingly important that fashion designers embed technical processes in the production phase. This module enables students to learn the skills to underpin technical integration and extend the technical vocabulary developed throughout the course. With a focus on pattern cutting, fit, grading and material knowledge; this module is design to give students an advanced set of skills to support the transition to industry placement or final year of the course.
