Module Aims

To produce a critical overview of the corpus of research that relates to the thesis research question.

Philosophically, methodologically, and theoretically the DBA exposes the student to a range of possibilities. The core philosophy of the DBA is to encourage students to explore a range of approaches that include the more traditional ‘Business School’ empirical methods (survey/interview/observation) as well as theory only applied research and textual analysis of policy (Government), corporate and multi-sectoral documentation.

Upon completion of this module students should be able to produce a literature review which:
• Identifies the literature streams relevant in both context and unit of analysis to their research question.
• Present a critical overview of the research relating to their research topic.
• Where appropriate, classify the extant literature that relates to their research area.
• Produce a conceptual framework.
• Identify the limitations of the current literature and articulate how their research will address these gaps.
