Module Aims

Explore leadership theory and practice to critically inform application in the public services in relation to socio-economic and political landscapes. 

Engage with critical reflection, professional dialogue, and feedback to critically evaluate own professional skills. 

Content Summary

This module will cover:  

  • Public services organisations and public service teams. 

  • Leadership theory and practice. 

  • Management theory and practice. 

  • Team leadership and team dynamics.  

  • Supervision roles in the public services. 

  • Wales Future Generations Act 

  • Application process including assessment centre, interview and fitness testing. 

  • Professional skills within the public services; problem solving, working with diverse communities, stakeholder engagement, adaptability, public services core values. 

  • Reflective practice.
