Module Aims

The module aims to enhance students' ability to demonstrate critical analysis of leadership styles, management theories and employ these skills and knowledge in co-ordination of projects and services.

The module will enhance the students understanding of theories and frameworks for effective collaboration to improve health and wellbeing.

Content Summary

Critical application of differing leadership styles, reflecting and adapting leadership style in differing and complex situations.

Compassionate, inclusive, fair, equitable and culturally competent leadership, supporting effective team development and working.

Demonstrating emotional intelligence and resilience.

Consolidating professional curiosity and foster it in others.

Professionalism, accountability and delegation in leadership and the co-ordination of community practice.

Making and justifying informed decision when leading and managing teams.

Developing teams through reflection, appraisal, feedback, clinical supervision, education, and forward planning.

Acknowledging and addressing the well-being of team members.

Recognising individual abilities and learning needs when applying the standards of education and training for pre- and post\\u0002registration nursing, midwifery and nursing associate students, to be able to educate, supervise and assess effectively.

Leading, and influencing the nursing profession in wider health and social care contexts to improve the care of communities through partnership workingwith interdisciplinary and interagency teams and other providers, including third sector and faith-based support organisations and networks.

Applying effective resource management strategies and understanding skill mix and workforce needs, caseload management, procurement and budget management.

Understanding human resource management and managing difficult situations, i.e. dealing with conflict.

Using digital technology to maximise the use of resources across interdisciplinary and interagency teams.

Measuring the impact, quality, productivity and cost efficacy of interdisciplinary and interagency teams to lead effectively and manage performance if required.

Critically appraise the wider influences and drivers on health and well-being of people and communities, including, political and economic policies, epidemiological, demographic, social, political and economic trends and proactively lead to Influence and inform positive change.

Working collaboratively in partnership to maximise effectiveness of different services and to promote and influence change and improve health outcomes for the people and communities.

Undertaking advanced risk assessments and co-ordinating risk management strategies to support effective and safe system leadership.
