Module Aims

This module aims to prepare students for a career in policing within the UK by providing them with a comprehensive understanding of the policing profession and the specific context of the UK police recruitment process. It focuses on developing the skills, knowledge, and attributes required to excel in a policing role, with a particular emphasis on leadership, ethical conduct, personal development, and resilience.

Content Summary

·       Explore the concept of policing as a profession within the context of the UK police recruitment process.

·       Critically review the complex issues and challenges associated with delivering operational policing services in the UK.

·       Enhance leadership capabilities and self-assurance within the specific context of a career in policing.

·       Develop a deep understanding of the College of Policing Competency and Values Framework for Policing, with a focus on preparing for the UK police recruitment process and selection.
