Module Aims

To enable future leaders/managers to critically reflect on own and others’ practices. While consistently and critically leveraging expertise and develop personal effectiveness to influence and mobilise others. 

To enable future leaders/managers to develop an open mindset oriented towards collaborative, professional and interdisciplinary practices, underpinned by the latest research that will allow them to engage, influence and have a positive impact in their community and wider society. 

Content Summary

Self as a Leader/Manager – Baseline Evaluation using ILM questionnaire and Individual Report Attributes and Skills: The Module follows the journey of a future Leader/Manager development. Starting from the initial baseline Self-evaluation through their progressive development and retake of the ILM questionnaire.  

The Leader/Manager within the Community: Explore how the leader/manager impacts within communities. 

The Leader/Manager within the Organisational context: Analyse leadership and management across a variety of organisational case study examples 

The Leader/Manager within the Global context: Delve into the global context of emerging trends 

The Leader/Manager of the Future: What does a manager of the future look like? What does a leader of the future look like? 

Leader/Manager Tool Kit: Explore tools to develop leadership and management skills. 

Leader/Manager Development: Through analysis and discovery develop self as a Leader – Evaluation of ILM questionnaire and use report to review attributes and skills 

Leader/Manager Succession: How can we support leaders and managers of the future? 

Reflect on distance travelled since the beginning of the academic term and Prepare a Personal and Professional Action Plan based on the updated ILM Individual Report: The ILM questionnaire retake aims to ascertain how the Module content has contributed to the distance travelled of the Future Leader/Manager’s development. This will underpin Part B of the Portfolio assessment.
