Module Aims

To develop student’s higher level critical thinking skills, so that they can identify, analyse and evaluate information, to give accurate and relevant advice.??

To develop a logical, methodical, and efficient strategy to research topics that are relevant to the context of a real-world problem, and the ability to present that research in a clear, concise and authoritative manner.??

To enhance their team working skills and their ability to work independently on a significant project.??

To critically evaluate academic and industry resources in order to produce a clear and concise business report / academic study appropriate for the relevant audience.?

Content Summary

This module gives students the experience of participating in a ‘consultancy firm’ to provide research and advice in response to a specific organisational issue(s) or the opportunity to conduct in-depth academic research in their selected field of management. These will be real-world issues, drawn from a range of sectors and companies, such as SME’s, multi-national and non-profit organisations to expose students to challenges they may face as a manager.??

They will analyse sectors (macro and micro analysis) using academic and industry sources, apply knowledge and skills gained from previous modules and apply these to a real business problem(s).???

The students will explore the issues presented and?work together in a group to identify the aims and objectives of their specific project, ensuring they identify the root cause of the problem/issue(s).? Students will present their initial findings through a group presentation that demonstrates their understanding of the key areas of concern, justify their research approach and their next steps to address the challenges/business concerns, thereby requiring students to work together a “soft-skill” priority in the Future of Work report.??

Students will then work independently to research and write a detailed report of their findings and potential recommendations/solutions, demonstrating their self-efficacy, another “soft-skill” priority in th Future of work report.
