Module Aims

This module aims to empower students to integrate academic learning with practical work-based skills, fostering informed vocational decision-making, ethical practice, teamwork, and the development of essential qualities for their preferred workplace activities.

Content Summary

This module provides an opportunity for students to further develop the many skills and qualities that are required for employment and to put skills into operation at a level commensurate with Level 5 study (for example, critical, analytical, organisational, application, creativity, communication, team working and interpersonal skills). Clear linkage between theory and practice will be embedded to ensure students recognise the link between the theoretical learning in the university and the application of this learning in the workplace. This will ensure an educational experience grounded in practical examples from the workplace.

A minimum of 50 hours in the placement must be completed during the year. Such workplace experience will enable the student, with the guidance of a mentor at the placement, to highlight areas for skills development during the placement and ensure professional development relating to their career is in place. QAA Placement guidelines will underpin the processes and procedures for all placements.
