Content Summary

The module explores the discipline of scripted filmmaking, supported by expanding the student’s knowledge of their technical crafts, backed up with theoretical understanding of “why we do what we do” in film. This module works in tandem with the ‘What is Film’ module, showcasing a variety of features and shorts that will be explored in workshops that task the students with craft-based exercises.

The module also explores topics and themes around underrepresented issues, expanding students’ viewing habits to explore the stories and lives of people different and adjacent to themselves, forming their own script ideas around well researched and informed topics

The module consists of a series of lectures, and workshops that focus on the ‘building blocks’ of fiction narrative structures, team-building exercises and production seminars that will support their script development and film production.
