Module Aims
To understand the nature of the UK Construction and Property industry and its impact on the Built Environment.
To understand the professional practices involved in creating immediate and long-lasting effects on the environment, reflecting on professional skills, the construction team and innovative management practices.
Content Summary
The purpose of this module is to introduce students to the concept of the Built Environment and the impact that construction has upon it.
This module will seek to give a broad range of knowledge on the time, cost and quality related aspects of projects.
The module will cover core concepts to demonstrate the requirements of different construction disciplines. It will seek to give students a foundation of knowledge which aligns to the professional roles within the Built Environment.
This includes the fundamentals of project management, cost management, building surveying, real estate, health safety and wellbeing.
It will address the professional bodies and their requirements for each of the professional roles.
It will include aspects related to Leadership, Motivation and Teams, Procurement and Tendering practices, Stakeholder, Risk, Cost, Programme and Quality management.
