Module Aims

1.     Prepare students to clearly explain what the research is about and what it aims to discover

2.     Enhance their skills in learning and using the correct methods for conducting research, including effective information gathering and analysis.

3.     Enable them to examine current organizational methods, understand the rationale behind them, and benchmark against best practices in business management.

4.      Ensure that all their work leads to findings that are in line with the research goals and provide new insights into business management. 

Content Summary

The Dissertation Module is an integral component of the MBA offered by the Faculty of Business & Creative Industries within the Business School. It has been meticulously designed to immerse students in the practical and strategic complexities of business management through a rigorous, research-oriented academic exercise. Throughout this module, students will:

·        Identify and articulate pertinent research questions that address real-world management challenges, aligning their investigations with current trends and emerging issues within the field.

·        Engage in comprehensive research, relying on various data collection methods, analytics tools, and research methodologies to critically assess and respond to these questions with well-supported evidence and arguments.

·        Develop a sophisticated understanding of business and management theories pertaining to the business sector, apply these theories to real-life scenarios, and practically assess their efficacy.

·        Craft and present a research project over the duration of the module, culminating in a substantial dissertation that showcases rigorous analysis, synthesis of information, and better understanding.

Through the supported development of this work, the module aims to nurture future leaders capable of driving innovation and advancing the business management field.
