Module Aims

Review empirical findings and demonstrate a critical understanding of the existing body of literature in a chosen research area.

Develop and evaluate appropriate research activities which are relevant to their chosen area of interest Support the collection, analysis and presentation of findings in an appropriate academic manner. 

Content Summary

Research design – positivism and interpretivism, ontology and epistemology. Generating appropriate research questions 

Researching and constructing a literature review 

Data collection methods – traditional and more contemporary Creative, participatory methods 

Ethics – historically and in the context of their own study – consent and assent Sampling and justification for their study 

Data analysis – qualitative and quantitative 

Presenting findings in an appropriate manner with reference to existing literature Drawing conclusions from findings
