Confirm student’s skill and knowledge in their specialism through a number of industry advised exercises. Identify areas of development for future work.

By the end of the module the students will have experienced and attained recognised skills appropriate to level, and as recognised by the course's industry partners. Where appropriate these will follow sector guidance and/or accreditation.

Content Summary

The purpose of this first practice module is to recognise and confirm the student’s skill and knowledge experience, as evidenced through the creation of a portfolio of specialism specific exercises.

Through a series of lectures, specialist craft requirements for each course's discipline will be established. Workshop activities will explore a series of defined exercises that will form the basis of the assessment portfolio.

Tutorials will be utilised to guide the student through each task either in a group or individual situation depending on the discipline and nature of task.

Sessions will also be held to guide students on the criteria and formats required for portfolio submission. Industry conventions will be established to be maintained and built upon throughout the course.
