Module Aims

T&L on this module has been designed to support the development and deepen the maturity of students’ skills in writing prose fiction and creative non-fiction

T&L approaches will build on the practice of using complementary approaches of working with texts in critical and creative ways and to understand the contribution of each to each other, training students to read closely and respond creatively to the work of published writers from the point of view of a practising writer and enabling them to give and receive constructive feedback in the writers’ workshop.

Content Summary

Sessions will consist of a mixture of teaching, discussion and practical workshops with writing both in response to in class prompts and independently. A range of work by published authors will be introduced in the context of developing fiction and creative non-fiction. A range of articles, podcasts, blogs will complement the fiction and non-fiction. These resources will exemplify how a variety of published writers approach the creative process of writing fiction and non-fiction. Participation in writers’ workshops will be an integral part of the module.
