The main aims of the module are: 

  • To introduce the core concepts, functions and scope of marketing. 

  • To support a successful transition to higher education. 

Content Summary

Marketing is the beating heart of any organisation and shapes the creation, communication, and delivery of value. This introductory module immerses students in foundational concepts, functions, and scope of marketing, positioning it as a philosophy (or way of thinking). Students will explore the interdisciplinary nature of the subject and will begin to develop a marketing mindset – essential for future modules. Weekly topics will unpack the marketing mix and the importance of context in marketing planning and decision-making. The module also supports students in navigating the transition to university, embedding foundational academic and professional skills to encourage success throughout the course and beyond.
