Module Aims

  • To develop students understanding of the forensic process from scene investigation through to evidence presentation in court. 

  • To provide opportunities for students to apply practical forensic techniques and reflect on their professional practice and teamwork

Content Summary

This module introduces students to the complete forensic process, from crime scene to courtroom, developing both practical and analytical skills essential to forensic investigation. Students will explore the people, processes, and protocols that underpin professional forensic practice before gaining hands-on experience in evidence recognition, recovery, and analysis. Through the examination of fingerprints, footwear, drugs, and biological materials, students will learn how evidence contributes to building a case and supporting criminal justice outcomes. The module concludes with students presenting their collective case findings and reflecting on the investigative process and their individual contribution.
