Module Aims

The main aims of the module are:

  • Introduce students to the key concepts and theories of Organisational Behaviour, helping them to understand how individuals, teams, and organisations interact and why effective people management is essential for organisational success.

  • Develop students’ academic, reflective, and employability skills, providing a strong foundation for progression to undergraduate study and future careers in business and management.

  • Engage students in an applied, challenge-based learning experience that encourages them to link theory to real-world organisational issues, fostering problem-solving, teamwork, and critical thinking.

Content Summary

People make organisations work, or fail. Behind every product we buy, every café we visit, and every app we use, there are people making decisions, solving problems, and (sometimes) creating chaos.

This module introduces Organisational Behaviour (OB) as the study of how individuals, teams and leaders think, feel and act at work. Students explore motivation, perception, teamwork, communication, culture and leadership, and learn how these shape performance and wellbeing. A live, challenge-based project anchors learning in practice so students can see how OB explains everyday workplace issues, from collaboration and conflict to inclusion and ethics.

Along the way, learners build academic confidence (reading, note-making, referencing), professional skills (teamwork, basic problem solving), and reflective habits that support progression to degree-level study and future people-focused careers. By the end, students can use core OB ideas to make sense of workplace behaviour and communicate evidence-informed recommendations.
