Content Summary

Interested in understanding what shapes the wellbeing of children and young people? This module will give you the full picture!

In this module, you'll dive into the research, policies, and practices that support the wellbeing of children and young people. From the health, social, and environmental factors that impact wellbeing, to the strategies used to promote positive outcomes, you’ll explore what affects children and young people today.

You will be introduced to wellbeing models and frameworks as well as some risk and protective factors that shape children’s and young people’s wellbeing such as diet and nutrition, family, friends, and social media.

But that’s not all! You’ll also take a global, national, and local look at children’s and young people’s wellbeing:

· How international goals, like the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, aim to improve prosperity for people;

· Key reports, like the Children’s Society’s Good Childhood Report (UK), that shapes national wellbeing strategies; and

· The Wellbeing of Future Generations (Wales) Act 2015, which informs the wellbeing approach in Wales.

By the end of this module, you’ll not only understand the factors that influence children and young people’s wellbeing, but also gain insight into the real-world strategies being used to make a positive impact.
