Module Aims
To provide students with an authentic experience, widening their perspectives and boosting their employability.
To encourage critical reflection on students’ own learning and development as leaders.
Content Summary
This module runs alongside the optional sandwich year students can complete within their studies, and offers students the chance to gain an authentic workplace or international experience as part of their degree.
Students who choose to study this module will embark on an extra ‘sandwich’ year placement, with two options:
A full year work experience in the UK, providing students the opportunity to gain significant experience in the workplace to boost their CV
An international ‘study abroad’ option, where students will complete two separate international placements – one in each term, each in a different country – providing students an opportunity to gain a global perspective and to provide the opportunity of social and cultural learning.
Placements are competitive, and students will need to apply for these positions – with support provided by the university in applying for placement roles either in the UK or abroad, and applying for funding if required.
At the end of the year, students will reflect on the experience they have had and how it has contributed to their development as the leaders and managers of tomorrow.
