Module Aims

  • To provide students’ an authentic experience of working in a startup business

  • To develop students’ understanding of the personal and business skills necessary for successful entrepreneurs

  • To develop students’ ability to reflect on how startup workplaces are similar and different from working in established companies.

Content Summary

This final module in students second year will allow them the opportunity to experience life in a startup company – providing a bridge between the theoretical insights from their studies so far and the practical realities of the startup workplace.

Students will complete two major tasks as part of this module, aiming to build their understanding of the entrepreneurial experience:

  • All students will complete a 75 hour placement with a startup business; and

  • Students will interview the founder of a startup business, identifying the challenges and lessons they have learnt from their journey.

Alongside these tasks, students will be supported in reflecting on their experience and applying the learning to their own context – all while giving students an opportunity to build connections in the workplace, develop their CV, and have an authentic working experience within the field of entrepreneurship
