Module Aims

  • To apply coaching theory to real-world challenges, including athlete development, training planning, and the design of inclusive coaching sessions.

  • To support the development of reflective and socially responsible coaches who can adapt their approaches to meet the needs of diverse individuals and communities.

Content Summary

This module is designed to help you become a more inclusive, confident, and reflective coach. You’ll explore how coaching can support people from different backgrounds, with a particular focus on gender inclusivity and creating safe, welcoming environments for all participants. You’ll learn about different coaching methods, how athletes develop over time (LTAD), and how to plan training across a season (periodisation). You’ll also look at real-world challenges such as gender bias, barriers to participation, and how to use inclusive language in your coaching. Through videos, case studies, quizzes, and reflective tasks, you’ll apply theory to practice and develop your own coaching style. The module ends with a practical coaching session and a reflective commentary, giving you the chance to showcase your learning. This module will support your development as a socially responsible coach and prepare you for working in diverse sporting environments.
