Module Aims
1. To introduce students to the principles and practices of multi-disciplinary performance support in football, highlighting the interrelationship between psychology, physical performance, and performance analysis.
2. To develop foundational knowledge and practical competence in understanding the role of multi-disciplinary evidence informed decision making within authentic football contexts.
Content Summary
Step into the world of football performance support and experience how psychology, physical performance, and performance analysis come together to shape better players and stronger teams. In this module, you will explore the foundations of multi-disciplinary teamwork (MDT) in football and see first-hand how different specialists collaborate to maximise athlete development and well-being.
You will break down the key roles, tools, and communication methods used by coaches, analysts, sport scientists, and psychologists, and learn how their insights merge to drive performance. Through live challenges, practical tasks, and applied observation, you will collect, interpret, and reflect on physical, psychological, and analytical information to understand how evidence shapes real-world decision-making.
By working through authentic, problem-focused activities, you will build the knowledge and skills needed to operate confidently within an MDT. You won’t just learn what each support service does you will discover how they connect, complement, and collaborate to create thriving, high-performing players and teams.
