Module Aims

The main aims of the module are:

  • To develop the ability to apply and integrate multidisciplinary performance support methods (psychological, physical, analytical) in authentic football contexts.

  • To enable students to design, implement, and evaluate individual player development strategies informed by MDT collaboration and evidence-based reasoning.

Content Summary

This module takes you beyond simply understanding performance services, you will now apply them. Building on your Level 4 foundations, you’ll step into the real work of performance analysis, psychology, and physical performance by designing, delivering, and evaluating interventions that directly support player development. Instead of just observing what practitioners do, you will do it yourself: collecting data, analysing behaviours, interpreting physical and psychological profiles, and creating evidence-informed strategies that help players grow. Through real-world case studies, collaborative tasks, and practical challenges, you’ll learn how to connect physical readiness, psychological wellbeing, and technical–tactical performance to meet the needs of individual athletes.

The focus is on turning insight into action, taking data, theory, and observations and using them to make practical, meaningful improvements to performance and learning.

By the end of the module, you will be able to deliver and communicate integrated performance solutions confidently as an active member of a multi-disciplinary team, bridging the gap between applied sport science and day-to-day coaching practice.
