Module Aims

  • Develop students’ understanding of the principles and operational considerations of sports development, including governance, resource management, and sector-specific practices across public, private, and voluntary contexts. 

  • Enable students to plan, deliver, and evaluate sport events and competitions, applying professional behaviours, effective resource use, and customer-focused strategies to real-world scenarios. 

  • Cultivate critical reflection and continuous professional development, encouraging students to analyse feedback, assess event impact, and identify strategies for improving practice within community sport environments. 

Content Summary

This module gives you the knowledge and practical skills to manage and deliver sport in community settings. You’ll learn about key areas such as governance, resource and facility management, customer engagement, and professional behaviours across public, private, and voluntary sectors. The focus is on planning, organising, and evaluating sports events and competitions, with plenty of hands-on experience through challenge-based activities and practical sessions. By working on real-world scenarios, you’ll develop teamwork, problem-solving, and reflective skills that are essential for a career in sport. This module helps you create inclusive and impactful opportunities that make a difference in communities.
