Module Aims

  • Develop a strong understanding of physical literacy and its importance for lifelong physical activity and wellbeing. 

  • Apply fundamental movement principles and health promotion strategies through practical, creative resource design aligned with UK PE curriculum. 

  • Build confidence in delivering inclusive, safe, and engaging PE experiences while developing transferable skills in digital literacy, collaboration, and innovation for future careers in education and health. 

Content Summary

Are you passionate about inspiring active, healthy lifestyles in young people? This module equips you with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to make a real difference. You’ll explore the principles and practices of Physical Education (PE), health, and wellbeing in schools and communities, building a strong foundation for careers in teaching, sport development, and health promotion. 

The module combines theory with hands-on experience, covering physical literacy, fundamental movement skills, inclusive pedagogy, safeguarding, and wellbeing interventions—all aligned with the UK National Curriculum for PE and professional standards from AfPE and CIMSPA. Through practical workshops and challenge-based tasks, you’ll design age-appropriate PE resources for Key Stage 1 and 2 pupils, create wellbeing campaigns, and develop strategies to overcome barriers to participation. 

Distinctive features include teaching simulations, digital resource creation, and collaborative projects that mirror real-world practice. You’ll also gain transferable skills in leadership, communication, and digital literacy—highly valued by employers.
